A man’s body was found on the bike trail in Santa Ana near the riverbed Friday morning, prompting an investigation of a potential homicide.
The body was found just north of Fifth Street on the east side of the riverbed shortly before 6 a.m. by a bicyclist riding north on the bike trail, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
The bicyclist did not have a phone with him so he flagged down a construction worker nearby who called police, Bertagna said.
“Based on what the patrol officer saw, he called the homicide unit out,” Bertagna said. “They’re investigating it as a possible homicide.”
