A man was shot dead and another man was critically wounded during a gang-related shooting at a park in South Los Angeles, police said Sunday.
The victims — a 30-year-old man and a man between 20 and 30 years old — were at the park in the area of 47th Street and Budlong Avenue when they were approached on foot by a man at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. The man fired several shots at them, said Officer Jeffrey Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.
The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. The 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name will be released pending notification of next of kin, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Paramedics rushed the other victim to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
