A Los Angeles Police Department officer was shot in her right arm Wednesday while responding to a mental health call in the Hollywood area, police said.
The officer responded to the call, involving an approximately 33-year-old man with bipolar disorder, at about 2:10 p.m. at a residence in the 1100 block of North Wilton Place, near Santa Monica Boulevard, according to Officer Mike Chan of the LAPD.
She was shot and taken to a hospital, Chan said, but he could not immediately confirm that the mental health patient was the one who shot the officer.
The man was later taken into custody, Officer Mike Lopez said.
No one else was injured, and further information was not immediately available.
