Firefighters knocked down a fire at a large chicken coop in Pacoima Sunday, but approximately 100 chickens had already perished, a fire official said.
Firefighters were dispatched at 8:30 a.m. to 12848 W. Filmore St. and had the fire out at 8:55 a.m., said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“LAFD Arson Section is responding for the investigation,” Stewart said. “No other structures were damaged and no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.”
Los Angeles animal control officers were also called to the scene to assist, she said.
