A 2-year-old boy found Wednesday in a backyard swimming pool in Garden Grove was in grave condition, police said.
Officers were called just before 9 a.m. to the 13000 block of Simmons Avenue. The boy got out of his home and through an open pool gate before tumbling into the pool, according to Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney.
When the child’s father and a neighbor went looking for the toddler, they found him in the pool unconscious, Whitney said.
The child was rushed to an area hospital, where he was in the intensive care unit on life support, but it appears he has little to no brain activity, Whitney said.
His name was not released.
