A 39-year-old man was shot to death and another man was wounded during an attack outside a Jurupa Valley business, with no word Friday on the whereabouts of the shooter.
The deadly attack happened about 3 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of an outlet in the 8900 block of Limonite Avenue, near Van Buren Boulevard, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Ben Ramirez said patrol deputies were sent to the location to investigate reports of an assault and found Alejandro Barragan of Jurupa Valley mortally wounded from several gunshot wounds.
Ramirez said that another man, who happened to be standing nearby and was not the intended target, suffered a non-life-threatening wound.
Paramedics pronounced Barragan dead at the scene moments later. The second victim drove himself to a hospital for treatment, according to the sergeant.
“During the investigation, a handgun, several expended cartridges and additional items of evidence were recovered,” Ramirez said.
The suspect remains at large, but detectives said multiple witnesses came forward as the investigation got underway.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit at 951-955-2777.
