Coroner’s officials Sunday released the name of a 54-year-old man who was shot dead on a flood control channel bike path in Compton.
The shooting victim was identified as Roy Evans of Compton, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
The homicide was reported at 7:55 a.m. Friday in the 800 block of West Poplar Street, said Deputy Eric Ortiz of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Evans was pronounced dead at the scene, Ortiz said. No murder weapon was found.
No suspect information was available but the death was believed to be gang-related, Ortiz said.
