Detectives Sunday were investigating the death of a 29-year-old man in Hemet, which occurred in an area where a shooting had also been reported.
Officers received a call that a man was bleeding from his head at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of North Buena Vista Street, where gunshots had been reported earlier, according to Hemet Police Lt. Nate Miller.
When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive man with a serious head injury, Miller said. The victim was taken to Hemet Valley Medical Center by ambulance, but later died of his injuries.
Detectives are trying to determine a motive for the apparent homicide, as well as the exact cause of death.
The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of his family.
