A man was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in Whittier and a suspect was on the loose Tuesday morning.
Deputies responded to a call of a gunshot victim in the 13300 block of Meyer Road, near Carmenita Road, about 6:45 p.m. Monday and found a man suffering from a gunshot would to his stomach, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Koerner said.
An investigation determined the victim was standing on a sidewalk when a passenger in a black sedan fired several shots at him in an apparent gang-related shooting, Koerner said.
The name of the victim was not disclosed.
A detailed description of the shooter was not immediately available.
