Authorities Thursday identified a 21-year-old man who died in an apparent gang-related drive-by shooting in the Whittier area and whose killer remains at large.

Deputies responded to a call of a gunshot victim in the 13300 block of Meyer Road, near Carmenita Road, about 6:45 p.m. Monday and found Roy Carmona suffering from a wound to his abdomen. The Pico Rivera resident died at a hospital that night, according to the coroner’s office.

Carmona was standing on a sidewalk when a passenger in a black sedan fired several shots at him in an apparent gang-related attack, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
