A 40-year-old man was charged Tuesday with second-degree murder in connection with a fatal crash in Irvine.
Antonio Calixto Navarrete was driving a Ford F-150 that collided with a Hyundai Elantra at Main and Culver in Irvine at about 8:45 p.m. Saturday, according to Irvine Police Department Sgt. Karie Davies.
Navarrete drove away from the crash scene but was stopped a short distance away, Davies said.
Isadora Stabel, 20, of Irvine, who was a passenger in the Hyundai, was taken to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Navarrete was also charged with felony hit and run with permanent and serious injury and driving with a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit of .08%, according to court records.
Navarrete had his arraignment Tuesday rescheduled for Sept. 11 in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. He was being held without bail.
