Sheriff’s officials Sunday announced that they’ve arrested two men in connection with a murder that occurred last year in an unincorporated area near Indio.

The homicide was discovered Sept. 24, 2019 after a structure fire in the 84000 block of Corregidor Avenue was put out.

Inside the structure, deputies found the body of 48-year-old Allen Hood, whose injuries “were inconsistent with the fire,” said Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Carroll.

Ricardo Pescador, 47, and Gerardo Rivera, 29, have both been charged with murder in the case by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, according to Carroll.

Pescador was arrested in October 2019 and remains behind bars on $2,000,000 bail.

Rivera was arrested on Aug. 21 and also remains jailed on $2,000,000 bail.
