An illegal outdoor marijuana grow containing about 1,500 plants was dismantled Thursday during a law enforcement operation in Riverside.

According to the Riverside Police Department, the cultivation site was recently discovered in the 6300 block of La Sierra Avenue, near Arlington Avenue, during an investigation by the Riverside County Cannabis Regulation Task Force, with assistance from an RPD detective.

“The investigation culminated in the service of a search warrant,” according to an agency statement. “Investigators located and destroyed approximately 1,500 mature marijuana plants, most between six and eight feet tall.”

A tractor was assigned to plow over the grow, and the uprooted plants were hauled away in dump trucks.

No commercial cannabis cultivation operations have been licensed in the city, or in any unincorporated communities within Riverside County.

No suspects have been identified or arrested in connection with the grow.
