Felony charges are expected to be filed Tuesday against a parolee who allegedly beat a 65-year-old man to death at a Mead Valley residence last week.

Richard Alan Johnson, 27, of Mead Valley was arrested Friday and booked on suspicion of murder and parole violations in connection with the death of Kurt Milosavljevic. He’s being held without bail at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Rick Espinoza, the attack happened Thursday night in the 22000 block of Rios Avenue, near Decker Road, just west of Perris. Patrol deputies were called to the house to investigate reports of an assault and found Milosavljevic dead from injuries consistent with a beating, he said.

Detectives quickly identified Johnson as the alleged assailant, and he was arrested in the predawn hours the following day near the property, according to Espinoza.

There was no word on a possible motive, or whether the two men knew one another.

According to jail records, Johnson has prior felony convictions within the last five years, but the offenses were not specified.
