Police chased a suspect they believe was armed with a gun through the streets of Pacoima Monday morning.

An officer from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Station announced at 1:30 a.m. that he was in pursuit of the male in the 12600 block of Van Nuys Boulevard.

Police followed him north on Van Nuys, according to D. Orris of the LAPD’s Department Operations Center.

Officers set up a perimeter in the area and zeroed in on an apartment building at Van Nuys and Borden Avenue.

While others were seen running in the apartment building around 2 a.m., it was unclear if they had any connection to the suspect.

Although an officer announced he had detained one suspect, but it was unclear if officers had found him with a gun.

Users of social news app Citizen reported hearing gunfire in the area just before the pursuit.
