A shooting involving a sheriff’s deputy and a suspect was reported Thursday afternoon in La Quinta.
According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Twitter post, the unidentified suspect was transported to a local hospital and the deputy “is OK.”
The shooting happened at 1:25 p.m. near the intersection of Calle Tampico and Washington Street, according to the sheriff’s department, which said no additional suspects were being sought.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Lionel Murphy said at 3:30 p.m. that he could provide no additional information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
A stretch of Calle Tampico was closed near La Quinta City Hall for the investigation.
It’s the third shooting involving a Riverside County sheriff’s deputy in the Coachella Valley in recent months.

Deputies fatally shot Aaron Solorio Granados, 33, on June 22 outside C.V. Guns & Tackle at 41-945 Boardwalk, Suite R, in Palm Desert, after he pointed a gun at them, according to the sheriff’s department.
