A bicyclist was struck and killed Saturday by a hit-and-run motorist in Carson, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 6:17 a.m. in the area of Chico and Dominguez streets, according to a watch commander at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Carson station.

Paramedics dispatched to the scene at 6:18 a.m. transported no one to any area hospitals, according to a county fire department dispatcher, adding the initial call was a report of a “female down.”

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Chico Street from 213th Street to Dominguez Street and Dominguez Street from Leapwood Avenue to Belshaw Avenue, which were temporarily closed for the death investigation, were reopened, the LASD said Saturday afternoon.

The Sheriff’s Department had no description of the suspect’s vehicle and there was no other immediate information.
