A 21-year-old Yorba Linda man facing trial for a murder in Brea was in court again Friday on a new case of attempted murder in Orange, according to court records.
Austin Joseph Ambriz was charged Tuesday with attempted murder, assault with the force likely to produce great bodily injury and second-degree robbery, all felonies.
Ambriz also faces sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a knife in the attack and inflicting great bodily injury on the victim.
Co-defendant Robert Mejia, 21, of Anaheim, faces the same charges, according to court records.
The two are accused of jumping out of a car at a stop light at Tustin Street and Meats Avenue on March 24, 2018, and stabbing another man, who they knew, according to Sgt. Phil McMullin of the Orange Police Department.
The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries, McMullin said.
A murder charge was filed May 1, 2018, against Ambriz, who was accused in a fatal stabbing at a Brea apartment complex.
Ambriz also faces a sentence-enhancing allegation of the personal use of a deadly weapon.
Luke Lindsey, 21, of Yorba Linda, was killed about 4:30 a.m., April 29, 2018, at the Birchwood Village apartment complex at 1717 E. Birch St., said Brea Police Department Lt. Adam Hawley.
