A 44-year-old motorcyclist was killed Monday afternoon in a crash with an SUV in Torrance.
The motoryclist, whose name was not released, was riding northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard, near Lomita Boulevard, about 3:20 p.m., when the driver of a southbound Ford Escape made a left turn, causing the motorcylist to collide with it, according to Sgt. Alexander Martinez of the Torrance Police Department.
The motorcyclist was treated at the scene but died from his injuries, Martinez said.
The 56-year-old driver of the Ford Escape was not injured in the crash, and investigators do not believe she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to Martinez.
Hawthorne Boulevard was closed between Lomita Boulevard and Skypark Drive while officers investigated the collision.
