Authorities Wednesday sought public help to identify a serial package thief in Seal Beach.
A homeowner’s video surveillance system captured the woman stealing a package about 4 p.m. Saturday from a porch in the 4800 block of Hazelnut Avenue, in a residential area near Lampson Avenue, according to Sgt. Nick Nicholas of the Seal Beach Police Department.
The woman approached the front door holding a large yellow envelope and put the package into the envelope, Nicholas said.
She is described as a white woman in her mid-30s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 160 pounds, with brown hair and a tattoo on her left arm, according to Nicholas. She had her hair in a bun and was wearing sunglasses, a black T-shirt, blue jeans, flip flops and a dark mask hanging around her neck.
She also had what appeared to be an ankle bracelet tracker on her leg, Nicholas said.
The suspect was seen driving a white Chevrolet sedan, and investigators believe she may have committed similar thefts in Westminster, according to police.
“We need the public’s help to identify this suspect,” said Seal Beach Police Chief Philip L. Gonshak. “The suspect made the mistake of committing this crime in broad daylight and although she was wearing a mask, made no attempt to conceal her face. I’m confident someone in the community will recognize her.”
Anyone with information about the woman’s identity or whereabouts was urged to call Detective Jeff Gibson at 562-799-4100 ext. 1109 or email jgibson@sealbeachca.gov.
