Santa Ana police Wednesday asked for the public’s help with their investigation of a male nurse who was arrested last week on suspicion of sexually assaulting a disabled woman.

Investigators suspect Gabriel Arce, 46, may have assaulted other victims, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

Arce was arrested last Thursday, a day after the alleged assault was reported, and bailed out of jail the following day, according to jail records.

Arce was working with a 73-year-old physically disabled woman at the South Coast Post Acute Facility in Santa Ana on Oct. 2 when he allegedly attempted to put her hand on his groin, Bertagna said.

When the woman resisted, Arce allegedly pulled down his pants and exposed himself before brushing his penis against her hand, Bertagna said.

A co-worker who witnessed the alleged acts said Arce “stayed at work and continued to work so obviously we believe it was a brazen act and it’s potentially not the first time he’s done it,” Bertagna said.

Arce had worked at the Santa Ana facility for a year and has worked at various nursing facilities since 2011 in Santa Ana and Long Beach, Bertagna said.

Anyone who has relevant information for detectives was asked to call 714-245-8343. Orange County Crime Stoppers will accept anonymous tips at (855) TIP-OCCS.
