A middle school library clerk accused of engaging in sex acts with a teenage student in Norco pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a felony charge.
Kyle Jeffrey Kammers, 34, of Riverside was arrested last year and charged with sexual penetration of a minor following an investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, in cooperation with the Corona-Norco Unified School District.
Kammers was arraigned before Superior Court Judge Gail O’Rane, who scheduled a felony settlement conference for Dec. 8 at the Riverside Hall of Justice. The defendant remains free on a $10,000 bond.
Sheriff’s investigators allege Kammers developed a relationship with the 17-year-old student while he was working as an assistant librarian at the John F. Kennedy Middle College High School.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Ernie Esquibel said detectives were alerted to the alleged illicit contact in May 2019, and in the ensuing investigation, they discovered Kammers and the girl had been talking with each other at the school, as well as via text messaging and social media platforms.
The defendant allegedly started a sexual relationship with the teen and received multiple inappropriate photos electronically, according to investigators.
In June 2019, detectives obtained and served a search warrant at Kammer’s home in the 3300 block of July Drive, seizing unspecified evidence and arresting him without incident, Esquibel said.
The defendant was placed on administrative leave from his job at the school. He has no documented prior felony convictions.
