A Los Angeles Police Department officer discharged a firearm Friday afternoon while responding to a robbery-in-progress report in downtown Los Angeles, but no one was injured.
Officers were flagged down by Business Improvement District security personnel, who reported a robbery in progress near 11th and Main streets, according to LAPD Officer Drake Madison.
An officer discharged a firearm while attempting to take the suspect, described as a woman in her 30s, into custody about 2:30 p.m., police said.
She was not injured, and officers were able to take her into custody.
ABC7 reported that at least two storefront windows in the area were smashed, possibly by gunfire.
Police urged the public to avoid the area and “expect heavy police presence and traffic delays for several hours.”
