Felony charges are expected to be filed Tuesday against a convicted felon accused of molesting an underage relative in Moreno Valley.

Jesus Alfredo Mejia was arrested Friday and booked at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside on suspicion of incest, giving a controlled substance to a minor and aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 years old, among other criminal allegations, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The 33-year-old Moreno Valley resident remains behind bars in lieu of $2 million bail.

Sgt. Ed Baeza said Mejia’s arrest was the culmination of a month-long investigation into alleged child molestation reported in the 15000 block of Carolina Avenue.

Unspecified evidence collected throughout the investigation pointed to Mejia as a suspect, and he was subsequently arrested Friday morning at a home on Fir Avenue in Moreno Valley, according to the sheriff’s department and jail records.

Mejia has a previous felony conviction from 2008 for resisting an executive officer, court records show.
