Two people died Wednesday when a vehicle plunged 30 feet off a roadway near Lake Mathews.
The crash was reported at about 8:20 a.m. in the area of Cajalco and Gavilan roads, according to the California Highway Patrol.
First responders found two people trapped in a vehicle that had plummeted down an embankment. Both victims, whose names were not provided, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
