An armed assault suspect holed up Saturday in a building in Hollywood but eventually surrendered to Los Angeles police more than five hours later, police said.

The male suspect believed to be between 30 and 35 years-old barricaded himself a little after 4:20 a.m. in the 6700 block of Hollywood Boulevard, said Officer Jeffrey Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.

He was wanted on suspicion of assaulting another person.

Lee said a SWAT team was called out to the location. The suspect finally surrendered to LAPD officers at around 9:30 a.m., Lee said.

His name was not immediately available.
