Members of a law enforcement task force investigating firearms trafficking in Jurupa Valley shot at a man allegedly armed with a gun, but did not hit him, sheriff’s officials said Saturday.
The shooting occurred after El Monte Police Department officers and Federal Bureau of Investigations agents served a search warrant Friday morning at a home in the 5700 block of Newton Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
When officers encountered a man with a gun at the front of the home, they shot at him, according to the sheriff’s department, which is investigating the shooting.
After the shooting, the man attempted to flee but was arrested before he could do so, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Lionel Murphy.
At least one other suspect was arrested at the home, Murphy said, but the details were not released.
No injuries were reported.
