A crossover sport utility vehicle driven by a Corona Del Mar woman fatally struck a transient man crossing a Huntington Beach street Monday evening.

The man was crossing outside of a crosswalk on Beach Boulevard, north of Yorktown Avenue, about 6:10 p.m., when a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by a 59-year-old woman, struck him, according to Sgt. Joshua Page of the Huntington Police Department.

The man, who was known to frequent Huntington Beach, sustained extensive injuries and was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Page said. His name was not immediately released.

The driver cooperated with investigators, who do not suspect that drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to Page.
