A man was shot twice in the leg and another man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance in connection with a party at a dance studio Sunday in Placentia where police said about 100 people were in attendance and two loaded handguns were recovered in the parking lot.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 1:12 a.m. to the 900 block of Via Rodeo regarding a “shots fired” call with a person down, Placentia Police Detective Sgt. Chris Anderson said.
Officers arriving at the scene saw several people leaving the area and some people were detained, including a man, who was later arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, Anderson said.
Police discovered a man had been shot twice in the leg and was rushed to an area hospital by friends. Also, an investigation revealed that about 100 people attended a party at a dance studio, where a fight broke out, he said.
The man was who was shot twice in the upper leg was wounded during the fight. He is expected to survive, he said.
“Officers located two loaded handguns in the parking lot in the industrial complex,” Anderson said. “The people contacted at the scene were from out of the county and were uncooperative with the investigation.
“No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting,” Anderson continued. “The connection with the partygoers and the dance studio is unknown at this time, but will be investigated.”
