Authorities Wednesday identified a man who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the eastbound Foothill (210) Freeway in the Duarte area.

Manuel Rodriguez, 64, of Whittier died at the scene about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday near Buena Vista Street, according to the coroner’s office and the California Highway Patrol.

Rodriguez was riding in a 2004 Subaru Forester that was in the No. 4 freeway lane, driven by Marcos Miramontes, 20, of Los Angeles, the CHP reported.

“Preliminary information indicates that Mr. Miramontes veered his Subaru to the left and collided into a 2014 Infiniti which was in the No. 3 lane,” a CHP statement said. “The Subaru then veered back to the right, colliding with a big rig in the No. 5 lane, which caused the Subaru to lose control and overturn over the embankment.”

Rodriguez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle, the CHP reported.

Miramontes, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured, the CHP reported.

“Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in this collision,” the CHP said. No arrests were made.

Anyone with more information on the case was urged to call Officer Jeremy Guerrero at the CHP Baldwin Park Area office, 626-338-1164.
