A man led authorities on a chase Thursday in a stolen car from the downtown Los Angeles area to Compton, where he surrendered when the vehicle was blocked in by a big rig on a narrow street.
The chase began about 8:50 a.m. when Los Angeles Police Department officers saw the sedan, which had been reported stolen, in an area east of downtown Los Angeles, according to the LAPD.
The suspect led authorities onto various freeways, including the San Gabriel River (605) and Riverside (91) freeways. At one point, he went to the Buena Park area in Orange County before heading back into Los Angeles County.
About 10 a.m., the motorist went onto the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway to the San Pedro area, where he got off the freeway and drove on surface streets, eventually going north on Alameda Street and into the Compton area.
About 10:30 a.m., the car was blocked in by a big rig that was turning into a driveway of a business on a narrow street, and the motorist got out of the vehicle and surrendered without further incident.
The name of the man was not immediately available.
