A man fatally shot at a Riverside park was identified Thursday as a 32-year-old father of nine.
Cedric Omar Dempsey of Perris was found about 7 a.m. Tuesday on the edge of Bordwell Park in the 2000 block of MLK Boulevard, near Ottawa Avenue, according to the Riverside Police Department.
Officer Ryan Railsback said a park employee was walking the grounds when he came upon the body.
Railsback said Dempsey had suffered an undisclosed number of gunshot wounds.
Detectives from the Robbery-Homicide Unit initiated an investigation and are trying to develop leads in the case. There was no information about a possible motive or suspects, according to Railsback, who asked anyone who might have information to contact detectives at 951-353-7134 or rpdtips@riversideca.gov.
