A parolee accused of beating his girlfriend and holding her against her will in a Banning hotel room, culminating in a SWAT raid on the location, is slated to be arraigned Tuesday on multiple felony charges.
Alfredo Raul Guerrero, 36, of Banning was arrested and booked into the Smith Correctional Facility last Tuesday.
Guerrero is charged with false imprisonment, firearm assault, making terrorist threats, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, domestic abuse and resisting arrest.
He’s being held in lieu of $170,000 bail and is slated to make his initial appearance Tuesday before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Timothy Hollenhorst at the Banning Justice Center.
According to the Banning Police Department, early on the afternoon of Dec. 22, Guerrero allegedly became irate with his girlfriend, identified in court documents only as “C.C.,” and prevented her from leaving their room at the Hampton Inn at 6071 Joshua Palmer Way.
Over an unspecified period, the defendant beat and brandished a Glock semiautomatic pistol at the woman, threatening to kill her, police alleged.
About 3:30 p.m., she was able to bolt from the room and call 911. Patrol officers went to the hotel but decided against trying to confront the defendant on their own, requesting assistance from Riverside County sheriff’s SWAT members.
The deputies executed a search warrant at the location about 7:30 p.m., taking Guerrero into custody without incident, according to police.
The victim was treated for her injuries but did not require hospitalization.
According to court records, Guerrero has two prior felony strikes, but the offenses were perpetrated in another jurisdiction, and no details were available.
