Sexual battery and false imprisonment charges were filed Monday against a 28-year-old man accused of groping an Orange Coast College student on the campus on Christmas Eve.
Arraignment for Alex Enrique Siliezar, a dishwasher who’s being held in lieu of $40,000 bail, was rescheduled for Jan. 13.
Police were called to the Costa Mesa college campus at 2701 Fairview Road just before 5 p.m. Thursday on a report of a student being groped. The 19-year-old victim managed to run away when a good Samaritan intervened and confronted the suspect, police said.
The victim said the suspect came up from behind her and grabbed her.
Campus security spotted a suspicious man about 4:30 a.m. Thursday and followed him to Harbor Boulevard and Merrimac Way as they relayed his whereabouts to Costa Mesa police, who arrived and took Siliezar into custody.
Siliezar, whose last known address was in Costa Mesa, had been released from jail on Dec. 3, after pleading guilty to misdemeanor aggravated trespass in a plea deal that dropped a felony count of burglary, according to court records.
According to a probation violation petition filed last week, Siliezar “was found to have entered an occupied apartment without consent.”
The probation violation petition alleges that the defendant appears to be a “danger to the community and has no boundaries. He continues this behavior of sneaking into people’s houses and now he is sexually assaulting people.”
