A 28-year-old man was charged Monday with groping an Orange Coast College student on the campus on Christmas Eve.
Alex Enrique Siliezar, a dishwasher who’s being held in lieu of $40,000 bail, is facing one felony count each of sexual battery and false imprisonment, according to court and jail records.
Police were called to the Costa Mesa college campus at 2701 Fairview Road just before 5 p.m. Thursday on a report of a student being groped. The 19-year-old victim managed to run away when a good Samaritan intervened and confronted the suspect, police said.
The victim said the suspect came up from behind her and grabbed her.
Campus security spotted a suspicious man about 4:30 a.m. Thursday and followed him to Harbor Boulevard and Merrimac Way as they relayed his whereabouts to Costa Mesa police, who arrived and took Siliezar into custody.
Siliezar, whose last known address was in Costa Mesa, had just been released from jail on Dec. 3, but information on why he previously spent time in custody was not immediately available.
Siliezar’s arraignment in the latest case was delayed until Jan. 13.
