A hit-and-run driver fatally struck a bicyclist Thursday at a Riverside intersection.
The fatality happened about 6:30 a.m. at Colorado Avenue and Jackson Street, according to the Riverside Police Department.
Sgt. Matt Lewis said that the victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was riding in a dedicated bike lane southbound on Jackson when the motorist slammed into him.
“The passing vehicle slowed, but fled the scene,” Lewis said.
He said the bicyclist was taken to Parkview Community Hospital, where the person died a short time later.
No description of the suspect’s vehicle was available.
