A brush fire broke out Thursday near The Old Road and the Golden State (5) Freeway in the Newhall area and grew to 10 acres before being contained by firefighters.
Firefighters were called about 6 p.m. to the blaze, near the Antelope (14) Freeway, after an initial call from the California Highway Patrol that a vehicle was showing sparks, said Martin Rangel of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
No structures were threatened.
