A 34-year-old North Hollywood man was gunned down in Van Nuys early Wednesday morning in a possible drug-related killing, police said.
The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. near Peach and Hart streets, LAPD spokeswoman Lizeth Lomeli said. Officers went to the area in response to 911 calls of shots fired, she said.
The victim died at the scene, Lomeli said. His name was withheld pending notification of his family.
Police said the victim was found about six feet away from a black BMW SUV that had just crashed into a fence, its engine still running.
“Detectives believe the SUV is connected to the victim, a nearby home may have been a part of the incident, and that the incident is possibly drug-related,” according to an LAPD statement.
Anyone with information was asked to call the LAPD’s Van Nuys station at 818-374-9500. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
