One person died and two others were injured Friday in a three-vehicle crash in Mead Valley.

The wreck happened about 3 p.m. at the intersection of Harvill Avenue and Rider Street, just west of Interstate 215, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency said that a Chevrolet 2500 pickup and two sedans impacted for reasons unclear. Northbound Harvill was completely blocked as a result of the collision.

Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location within a few minutes and discovered one victim in grave condition, and the other two suffering moderate to major injuries.

Life-saving measures were attempted on the first victim, whose identity was not immediately released, but he died at the scene, according to the CHP.

The other two parties were taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment.

The crash is under investigation.
