The Golden State (5) Freeway reopened late Tuesday morning after being closed in both directions overnight through the Grapevine into southern Kern County due to heavy snow.
The freeway had been closed since about 3:45 p.m. Monday northbound at Parker Road in Castaic and southbound at Grapevine Road in Lebec, in Kern County, Caltrans reported.
Late Tuesday morning, Caltrans reported that the freeway was being reopened in both directions through the area, but with CHP escorts. At about 12:30 p.m., CHP escorts were no longer required, the agency said.
The two left lanes were closed on the northbound freeway at Parker Road in Castaic, and on the southbound side from Hasley Canyon Road to Parker Road.
