Police on a stakeout in a Riverside neighborhood Tuesday shot and injured a suspect, who was taken to a hospital.
The shooting occurred shortly after 4 p.m. in the 4600 block of Tomlinson Avenue, near Tyler Street, where officers on a stakeout “encountered a suspect, and an officer-involved shooting occurred,” said Riverside Police Department spokesman Officer Ryan Railsback.
The suspect, who was struck, was taken to a hospital. Railsback said his condition was unknown.
“No officers or other people were injured and the scene is still active,” Railsback said.
The Riverside County District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting.
