One person was killed and three others were fighting for their lives following a four-vehicle collision Wednesday in Fullerton.
A 36-year-old man behind the wheel of a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was driving “erratically” north on Magnolia Avenue when he veered into oncoming traffic near Valencia Drive for unknown reasons about 10 a.m., said Fullerton police Lt. Jon Radus.
The Silverado slammed into a southbound Toyota Corolla on Magnolia before flipping over and crashing into a 2010 Ford Edge, also southbound on Magnolia, Radus said. The Corolla spun around and slammed into a 2006 Nissan Altima, Radus said.
The Corolla’s 21-year-old driver and her 18-year-old passenger were stuck in the car and Fullerton firefighters had to cut the women out of the wreckage, Radus said.
The Corolla driver, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at an area hospital, and her passenger was admitted in critical condition, the lieutenant said.
The Silverado’s driver was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, Radus said. A 50-year-old man, who was behind the wheel of the Ford Edge, was also taken to an area hospital in critical condition, Radus said.
Police were working to determine if alcohol or drugs factored into the cause of the collision, Radus said.
