A young woman was killed Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle roll-over crash on Interstate 10 in Whitewater while driving unrestrained and possibly intoxicated, police said.
Alexis Alfarue, 24, of Beaumont suffered fatal injuries about 12:30 a.m. just west of Highway 62, according to coroner’s officials and the California Highway Patrol.
CHP Officer Jackie Quintero said the victim was driving westbound in a Jeep Wrangler when she lost control, veered into the shoulder area and struck a pole.
Alfarue, who was not wearing her seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol or drugs appear to have contributed to the crash, Quintero said.
