Authorities Wednesday publicly identified an 82-year-old man who was struck and killed by a pickup truck while jaywalking in Riverside.
Luis Torres of Riverside was struck at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday on Indiana Avenue near Detroit Drive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Riverside Police Department Officer Ryan Railsback said the victim walked onto a portion of Indiana Avenue without a marked crosswalk or traffic light and was then struck by the truck, which was heading east Indiana Avenue. The driver remained on scene and was not injured, Railsback said.
Indiana Avenue was closed between Jefferson Street and Detroit Avenue for about four hours while investigators worked the scene.
