Authorities Tuesday identified a man who was struck by a vehicle and killed while crossing Pacific Coast Highway in the Pacific Palisades area over the weekend.

The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. Sunday at Porto Marina Way, according to Officer Lizeth Lomeli of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.

Carlos Barahona, 27, of Los Angeles died at the scene, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported.

The vehicle was going northbound on PCH south of Porto Marina Way when it hit Barahona, who was crossing outside of the crosswalk, Lomeli said. The driver swerved to avoid the man but still hit him, she said.

The vehicle continued swerving into southbound lanes and down an embankment onto the beach, Lomelli said. The driver and passenger were treated for unspecified injuries.
