An investigation was underway Wednesday morning into the shooting death of a woman in her 40s in the unincorporated Willowbrook area.
Deputies responded about 11 p.m. to a call of a gunshot victim in the 13100 block of San Pedro Street, south of East El Segundo Boulevard, where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the department said.
A description of any suspect or a motive for the shooting were not immediately available.
The name of the victim was not disclosed.
