Police Tuesday were trying to figure out just what happened when one person was injured in a shooting at the Hollywood & Highland shopping and entertainment complex and a suspect was taken into custody.

Terrified tourists ducked for cover and police were called about 4:25 p.m. Monday to reports of the shooting with a person down, said Officer William Cooper with the Los Angeles Police Department.

After the shooting, police said a suspect fled the scene north on Highland Avenue. Officers set up a perimeter in the area, and by about 6:30 p.m., had one suspect in custody, Cooper said.

ABC7 reported a security guard was shot at the Shoe Palace store, but Cooper could not immediately confirm those details.

The injured person was reported in stable condition, Cooper said.

No further details were yet available.
