Gang enforcement investigators based in Van Nuys arrested a 29-year-old man suspected of selling ghost guns and other weapons to gang members, authorities said Saturday.
The investigators served a search warrant at 7 p.m. Friday in the 1200 block of North Sycamore Avenue in the Hollywood area, police said.
The investigators recovered several unregistered fully automatic rifles, automatic pistols, short-barrel rifles, semi-automatic handguns and rifles, silencers, black powder and gun parts, police said. They also found machines used for making ghost gun parts and high-capacity rifle drum magazines.
A ghost gun is a weapon without a serial number that can be bought online without a background check and assembled at home, according to bradyunited.org.
Dalton Costahaude was arrested and booked for suspicion of possessing an assault weapon and other weapons violations, police said.
Costahaude remained in the Valley Jail in Van Nuys on $300,000 bail, according to sheriff’s inmate records.
