A 58-year-old man suspected of driving while intoxicated died in a head-on collision that left another motorist hospitalized, police said Sunday.
The collision happened at around 3:20 p.m. Saturday when a Ford Mustang heading north on State Street veered into southbound lanes near the South Village Loop, slamming into an oncoming Ford F-150, according to the Hemet Police Department.
The driver of the Mustang died at the scene and was later identified as Reef Crimson, 58, of Hemet, the Riverside County coroner’s office reported.
The driver of the F-150 had to be cut out of the wreckage by firefighters before being hospitalized with serious injuries, though he is expected to survive, police said.
Police said there was evidence that alcohol or drugs may have been a factor in the crash.
