A gardener in Glendale suffered minor injuries in trying to thwart the theft of his gardening equipment by three men who pulled him down the street in their minivan before escaping, Glendale police said Sunday.

The attempted robbery took place outside a home in the 1500 block of El Miradero Avenue at about 9:15 a.m. on Feb. 23, police said.

The gardener told police he noticed a blue minivan parked next to his work van and saw three men stealing his gardening equipment from his van.

The gardener said he ran to the van and tried to pull the key out of the suspects’ minivan but the driver grabbed the victim’s arm and slammed the minivan into reverse, driving about 300 feet before he released the gardener and punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground. The suspects then fled the scene.

The gardener’s loss was estimated to be about $7,400, police said.

The suspects were described as three men in their 20s and the driver had a shaved head, the gardener told police.

Their minivan was believed to be a 1990s to early 2000s blue Dodge Caravan, police said.

Anyone with information on this robbery was asked to call Glendale police at 818-548-4911. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
